Iveco eJolly 2026 review: Familiar electric workhorse backed by heavy-duty dealer support

In an independent review published by What Car?, the 2026 Iveco eJolly is evaluated as the Italian commercial manufacturer's first electric entry in the medium van category. Rather than developing a bespoke vehicle from scratch, Iveco partnered with Stellantis, meaning the eJolly shares its underlying platform, motor, and cab architecture with models like the Vauxhall Vivaro Electric and Peugeot E-Expert. Power comes from a single front-mounted electric motor delivering 134bhp and 199lb-ft of torque. Buyers can select between two battery capacities: a 49kWh pack providing an official WLTP range of 139 miles, or a larger 75kWh pack claiming 218 miles. On a gentle, unladen urban test route, What Car? recorded 3.6 miles per kWh (suggesting roughly 248 miles on a full charge), though real-world mixed driving with cargo typically drops to around 2.4 miles per kWh (approximately 165 miles). Maximum payload spans between 925kg and 1,280kg depending on configuration, towing capacity is rated at 1,000kg, and the roof height remains under 1.9 metres to ensure multi-storey car park access.

On the move, What Car? liked the eJolly’s smooth, quiet performance around town, where an electric powertrain eliminates engine vibration and eases stop-start driving. The low-slung underfloor battery creates a reassuringly low centre of gravity, helping the van feel stable on faster routes and settled over broken road surfaces. The publication also praised the vehicle's bold front-end styling, considering it the sharpest look among the shared Stellantis platform variants. The biggest operational advantage highlighted is Iveco’s commercial truck dealer network, which understands commercial fleet demands and works to minimise costly garage downtime.

Conversely, the reviewer criticised the compromises carried over from the aging donor platform. The driving position is awkwardly offset, forcing a slight twist at the wheel that becomes tiring on longer journeys. Accommodating three adults is uncomfortable because a bulky central dashboard moulding severely restricts the middle passenger's knee space. What Car? also noted that the 10-inch touchscreen runs software that feels sluggish compared to newer rivals, the wing mirrors are relatively small, and the 1,000kg towing limit lags behind key competitors.

Verdict: What Car? awards the Iveco eJolly a 3 out of 5 star rating. It serves as a sensible, manageable, and easy-to-drive urban commercial vehicle, but compromised cab ergonomics prevent it from challenging top medium vans. It is best suited to urban delivery fleets and existing Iveco truck operators looking to streamline maintenance through a single commercial dealer network.
